Za pobraniem on Shopify: the Polish COD setup

Poland's payment landscape is BLIK-first, but płatność za pobraniem still matters — especially for older buyers and first purchases — and every carrier (InPost, DPD, DHL, Poczta Polska/Pocztex, GLS, ORLEN Paczka) offers pobranie with a surcharge. The Shopify setup: a pobranie fee via linked shipping rate (5–15 zł typical), the fee doubling as a BLIK-conversion nudge, plus value caps and refusal control.

COD in the BLIK era

BLIK made prepayment effortless in Poland, and pobranie's share has fallen — but it hasn't disappeared, and carriers still support cash or card on delivery everywhere, including InPost's Paczkomat lockers (pay in the InPost app on pickup). For a Polish store the calculus is simple: keep pobranie for the customers who want it, and let a visible fee steer everyone else to BLIK, which most already prefer.

Setup

1. Settings → Payments → manual method named “Płatność za pobraniem”.
2. Create the fee rate(s) in your Poland zone — e.g. “Za pobraniem (+9,99 zł)”, matching or slightly above your carrier's pobranie surcharge — and link them in ACOD.
3. Running kurier + Paczkomat options? Each delivery method can have its own pobranie variant with its own fee (multiple linked rates).
4. Add a value cap (carriers cap pobranie collection; 5,000 zł is a common ceiling) and tag-based blocking for refusers.
5. Test with testing mode.

The fee-as-conversion-lever logic is especially clean in Poland: “pobranie +9,99 zł / BLIK 0 zł” reads as a fair trade to customers who see the same pattern on Allegro and carrier price lists. The conversion playbook covers framing and amounts.
